Namibia Tourist Visa Guide for Indians 2026

Namibia offers Indian citizens two main visa routes — the e-visa (online, launched in 2025) and the embassy sticker visa (through the Namibian High Commission in New Delhi).

Tourist e-Visa is the most convenient option for most Indian travellers. Namibia launched its online Visa-on-Arrival portal on March 3, 2025, and applications became available from April 1, 2025. Apply online, upload your documents, pay NAD 1,600, and receive your e-visa within 7-10 working days. The visa is valid for 3 months from issuance and allows a stay of up to 90 days.

Embassy Visa (Single Entry) is processed through the Namibian High Commission in New Delhi. It costs €100 (approximately ₹9,000) and takes 7-10 working days. This is the traditional route and is necessary if you prefer a sticker visa or if the e-visa system is unavailable.

Embassy Visa (Multiple Entry) allows multiple entries within the visa validity period. It costs €150 (approximately ₹13,500) and takes 10-14 working days. This is ideal for travellers exploring neighbouring countries like Botswana, South Africa, or Zimbabwe and returning to Namibia.

Important: Since April 1, 2025, Namibia ended its visa exemption for 33 countries, including India. Ordinary Indian passport holders can NO LONGER enter Namibia visa-free. Only holders of diplomatic or official Indian passports enjoy a 3-month visa-free entry privilege. Apply for your visa before travel — there is no visa on arrival at Namibian airports for Indians.

Indian citizens can apply for a Namibia tourist visa through the e-visa or embassy route. Here is who qualifies:

Basic eligibility:

·        Indian passport holder with at least 6 months validity from intended date of entry

·        Travelling for tourism, leisure, or visiting friends/family

·        Confirmed return or onward flight ticket

·        Hotel booking confirmation in Namibia

For the e-visa:

·        Indian passport holders can apply online through the Namibian government portal

·        Must upload passport scan, passport-size photo, and supporting documents

·        Must provide hotel booking and return flight details

·        Credit or debit card for online payment

For the embassy visa:

·        All of the above, plus

·        Completed Form 3-1/003 in duplicate

·        Cover letter explaining purpose of visit

·        Bank statements for the last 3-6 months

·        Travel insurance with minimum coverage

Stronger applications have:

·        Stable employment with a regular salary

The document requirements vary by route. Here is what you need for each:

For the Tourist e-Visa (recommended):

1.      Passport — Valid for at least 6 months from your intended date of entry, with at least 2 blank pages.

2.      Passport-size photograph — Recent colour photo, white background, 47mm × 36mm, JPEG or PNG format. The photo must be taken within the last 6 months.

3.      Scanned passport bio-data page — Clear scan of the identity and validity pages of your passport.

4.      Flight itinerary — Confirmed round-trip booking showing your entry and exit from Namibia.

5.      Hotel booking confirmation — Confirmed reservation for your entire stay in Namibia.

6.      Bank statements — Last 3-6 months of statements showing sufficient funds (recommended minimum USD 500-700 per person).

7.      Travel insurance — Recommended, with minimum coverage for medical emergencies and repatriation.

8.      Credit or debit card — For online payment of the visa fee.

For the Embassy Visa (additional documents):

9.   Visit the Namibian High Commission website (nhcdelhi.com) and download Form 3-1/003.

10.   Fill the form completely in duplicate and sign both copies.

11.   Gather all documents using the checklist above.

12.   Obtain a demand draft in favour of "High Commission of Namibia - Mission Revenue", payable in New Delhi.

13.   Visit the Namibian High Commission in New Delhi with your documents and demand draft.

14.   Submit your application during submission hours (9:30 AM - 12:00 PM, Monday to Friday).

Sossusvlei at sunrise is breathtaking. Indians consistently rate the towering red dunes as the highlight of their trip. Climbing Dune 45 or Big Daddy at dawn, watching the colours shift from deep purple to fiery orange, and then descending into Deadvlei to see the ancient dead trees against the white clay pan — this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Etosha's waterholes are mesmerising. The night skies are unforgettable. Lying on the hood of your car in the Namib Desert, watching the Milky Way blaze across the sky with no light pollution for hundreds of kilometres — this is the kind of experience that changes how you see the universe.

1. Assuming visa-free entry still applies. Since April 1, 2025, Namibia NO LONGER offers visa-free entry to Indian citizens. Arriving without a visa will result in denied entry. Always apply for your visa before travel.

2. Applying through unofficial websites. Use only the official Namibian e-visa portal or the Namibian High Commission in New Delhi. Third-party websites charge inflated fees for the same visa.

3. Passport with less than 6 months validity. Both the e-visa and embassy visa require at least 6 months validity from your entry date. Arriving with an expiring passport will result in denied boarding and denied entry.

4. Not having enough bank balance. While there is no fixed minimum, insufficient funds are a common rejection reason. Maintain at least USD 500-700 (₹42,000-59,000) per person in your account for the last 3-6 months.

5. Forgetting to print the e-visa. While digital copies may be accepted, a printed copy is always safer. Print your e-visa and carry it with your passport.

6. Not getting travel insurance. While not mandatory, travel insurance is strongly recommended for Namibia. Medical facilities outside Windhoek are limited, and emergency evacuation can be expensive.

7. Booking non-refundable flights before visa approval. Wait for your visa to be approved before booking non-refundable flights and hotels. Visa rejections happen even with complete documentation.

8. Excessive follow-ups. Do not call or email the High Commission multiple times. Wait for the standard processing time (7-10 working days) before inquiring. Excessive inquiries may be noted negatively.

Multiple airlines operate flights between India and Namibia with one or two connections. The route is well-served but requires planning — no direct flights exist.
